What About The Kids?

During our corporate worship gatherings on Sunday mornings families worship together. We have grown accustomed to the presence of children in the gathering, and the children grow accustomed to being a part of the corporate worship time. Some parents are concerned about whether their child will understand everything that takes place during worship. We have discovered that we aren’t supposed to fully understand everything, but receive and obey by faith as children (Prov 3:5-7, Mark 10:13-16). We have also learned that the work of the Holy Spirit in humanity transcends a person’s present cognitive abilities (Heb 11:1).

We believe that parents are the primary examples and disciplers of their children (Deut 6:4-9, 11:18-21, Psalm 78:5–8, Prov 1:7-9, Eph 6:1-4) and worshipping together affords kids the opportunity to see examples of and experience worship with their family, and do so among other (mature) members of God’s family. This also enables parents to fulfill their God given roles during worship and to have the basis for further conversations about worship and the life of a disciple outside of corporate worship.

We do however, see the significance of one’s intellect, and understand the benefits of making accommodations for learning style and age during times of worship and instruction. Therefore we periodically include children’s moments/messages and resources that are geared towards our kids as a part of the corporate worship time.

We realize that this may be new and different from what some are accustomed to. Our hope is that this won’t stop you from joining us in Sunday worship, but that you will permit us to lovingly join you in this endeavor. We believe God is honored when the Biblical community worships together and that both the adults and children learn valuable lessons in the process.

What To Wear To A Corporate Worship Gathering?

We’re more concerned with meeting you, and you meeting God than what you wear.  People come from different places in life, with different backgrounds, different cultures, and have different financial means.  Furthermore, we know that how a person dresses is not a reflection of their relationship or lack thereof with God. The Bible tells us, “… the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV).

At our Sunday worship gatherings some people are really dressed up and others, not so much.  Our pastor varies in his attire (from slacks and a sport coat, to a suit, to a clergy collar and robe) depending on the occasion. We are all about honoring God and believe we honor Him by living lives devoted to Him. We also honor him by wearing our best, whatever that may be.  So feel free to come dressed in what you believe best honors the God you expect to meet.
